tech in drawing

Halloween time!
Last Friday was the first time I went to pick up Julia for this semester. She was pretty excited for the coming Halloween and showed me a picture of her pictures drawing by a tech tool. It was interesting to see how she exchanged ideas with me about the new tools they used in the classroom. She shared that they had a new one to replace the doc cam. Basically speaking, it is a wireless doc cam. She's so excited. She also talked about her room teacher's slides and make connections to the slides I made for teaching too. Then she fell interested in the clicker her teacher used. I told her that we had one too, in my bag actually. So we did take it out of my bag and showed it to her during dinner time. All children were excited about the little thing and it was amazing to see how those kinds of small change motivates their attention level.
If we come to connect with the readings of Gee (2014), well, this is not game literacy, but it definitely arouse continued attention and engagement. It would be hard to say whether it is good or not as it depends on the context those tools are used and how the teacher is going to present them.
